The Clarens Parkrun, takes you through our personal favourite part of Clarens. Most people explore the village square and all its fabulous attractions, but many miss the beauty and tranquillity of our mountains.
The park run is a great way to venture off the tarred roads, and into the open conservancy area, to enjoy the spectacular natural beauty of our Clarens haven, hidden in the midst of the Free State.
Clarens parkrun is a FREE weekly 5km event for participants of all standards, which takes place every Saturday at 8:00am in Market Street, Clarens, 9707. The start point is near the well known Bibliophile book store.
Walk or run on your own, or with your friends, kids and the dogs!
The well sign posted route, offers an opportunity for all the local community and visitors to come together to enjoy this beautiful environment.
A new route was mapped out in February 2023.
Taking part is easy – just register before your first ever parkrun on the park run website. Then just set your alarm for Saturday morning and get yourself there!
Every week they serve a post parkrun coffee at the Finish Line – please join in! Maybe swap stories about your run that day, chat to other park runners and locals over a cup of tea or coffee.
If you can’t make it on a Saturday morning, the trail is always open.
This is a single loop over quite hilly terrain with spectacular views of the Maluti Mountains. This is a mixed terrain route over gravel roads, single track, wooden bridges, flat rock.
Due to the terrain parts of the course may make it harder for people with buggies & pushchairs – please contact the team in advance for further information.
The 5 km course is run on a mixture of gravel paths and trail paths. Some sections of the course may accumulate mud, leaves and puddles after rain. Dependent on availability, marshals will be at key sections of the course, or signs will be in place.
Please remember that the parkrun uses shared paths. For the continued success of the event, please give way to other trail users. This won’t hurt your time, it won’t stop you from getting a PB and it will make sure everyone continues to enjoy the event.
The park run trail and the other trails are managed by the Clarens Village Conservancy. The Clarens Village Conservancy, is a registered non-profit organisation and is run by a committee and its field rangers. Our conservancy is supported by residents of Clarens. We all care about our environment and sustainable development. A permit is required for all activities in the Clarens nature reserve, which includes hiking, mtb and fishing for non-members. (excluding the parkrun)
Enjoy the natural beauty the surround our peaceful village!
